Why shine?

“In the context of ecological destruction and huge disparity between the 1% & the 99%, it is crucial that we come together across difference in respectful, inclusive and imaginative ways. That we build the muscle of power-with and power-within. That we radically redefine ‘progress’, ‘growth’ and ‘success’ in the context of the needs of the communities and ecosystems of which we are a part.”

Connected Leadership:

Becoming a force for Nature

We are always leading ourselves (and sometimes others) somewhere, often unconsciously and in directions we don’t truly wish to be heading.  When we make our leadership conscious, and connect with what is truly important, we can become a force of nature and for nature.
I have witnessed the abuse of ‘power over’ masquerading as leadership, the kind of authority that would oppress many and benefit few. It’s not a pretty sight. We must remember what it means to be our own self-leader, find this sacred self-authority, and nourish and grow it. It’s time to drop the ego — whether it shows up as low self-esteem or grandiosity — and step into our true power.
There is a dignity, wisdom and grace to be found here, from which we can speak and act. And perhaps most importantly, from which we can connect with others, especially those who are different from us, to protect and care for the planet and all of her beings.

What does it mean to shine in changing times?
